#medalmonday🏅 We had two more purple crew raci #medalmonday🏅

We had two more purple crew racing over the weekend in very different events!

@becsterboo75 ran in the Bristol half marathon. A solid time over all but some rather excitable pacing at the start, especially as it was warm 🔥 1:30 is still a great time and now to lock in for marathon training 😃

@bimbling_idiot Paul ran the Black Mountains challenge 49km. Organised by mountain rescue this event had a relaxed yet superbly organised feel. Paul had a great run finishing 7th, starting off with his friends then pushing on after two climbs to the finish 💪 This was the perfect race in Paul’s build to Lakeland 50.

Huge congratulations to our very own Dave @bigshan Huge congratulations to our very own Dave @bigshanky for winning the Cardiff to London 200 mile ultra 🥳🔥

Not only did Dave win but he ran this inaugural event in 45 hours! 🔥 Incredible performance!

Well chuffed for him especially after the pre race conversation about not feeling motivated 🙃

Another busy, busy weekend of racing and having fu Another busy, busy weekend of racing and having fun 🤩

We had Rachael, Claire and Ilana at the GL3D weekend. Definitely about fun and training experience 💜

@brookies_miles ran Milton Keynes half with a friend for fun.

Jen ran a local trail race and finished 2nd 🥈 woman 🤩

Georgina ran her first ever marathon at the 3 Hills Fort challenge, finishing 10th woman despite stopping to help an injured runner.

@natalie96z ran the Vancouver Marathon. Stunning event. Not the race Natalie deserved with injury spoiling the fun in the second half. But many many positives 🤩

@ashe_daniel ran the Maverick Exmoor Goat 💪 Another strong run for Daniel on this tough course.

@christopher.booth.16 testing out his new Maxwell Coaching kit at the Oldbury Sprint triathlon 🤩💜

Our girls in London 🤩 Wow proud coaches on a Our girls in London 🤩

Wow proud coaches on a hot day in the capital.

@laurajanesara only a year after having her son, and two years since her sub 3 at London, ran a strong 3:11. Not the champs start we wanted or deserved, but we know that is there for a half marathon attempt next 🥳

@isabellafayemcnally paced her race beautifully, stayed as cool as she could and kept pushing to the line to secure her sub 3:30 with just seconds to spare 🤩

@brookies_miles followed the race plan, possibly a bit too cautious as Kate often is, but this was a training run before Edinburgh marathon. Strong finish and a negative split for a 3:39. Now to work on being brave 🦁🤩

Elspeth joined the purple crew only last year. The A plan was a champs start, but the heat took its toll after a possibly too pacey start. This was Elspeth’s 2nd marathon, so to run 3:14 and still run a 6 minute PB with a struggle to the finish is incredible. Plenty more to come from Elspeth 🤩

We had 5 marathon runners at the weekend 🥳 Con We had 5 marathon runners at the weekend 🥳

Congratulations to @christopher.booth.16 for his 8 minute PB at the Manchester Marathon, running 3:21. This after playing rugby the day before, so definitely more to take off there. Onwards to Ironman Wales for Chris 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Next up from our women racing from the weekend is Next up from our women racing from the weekend is @thismumrunsforfun. Tasha finished 2nd woman in the Lydney spring standard triathlon. Another big stepping stone towards her A race the European AG middle distance in just a few weeks 🥳

Great racing and onto another week of triathlon training 🤩

Congratulations to @fionaslevinb for yet another w Congratulations to @fionaslevinb for yet another win at the Butcombe 50km 🤩🥇

It was a tough race with an injury set back with 5 miles to go, after a technical descent. Phone call with hubby and coach and Fiona got to the finish. The injury isn’t anything serious and Fiona will be back out again soon 🥳

London Marathon 💥 What does it mean to you? Fo London Marathon 💥

What does it mean to you? For us it’s steeped in history, memories, every race and year different. We have been fortunate to experience the race several times both as a runner and a coach. This year we have 4 purple crew racing.

The crowds, the sights, the route, the finish. There is no marathon like London. Good luck to all racing this weekend, enjoy every second 💜

Easter 🐣 racing for @becsterboo75 and another w Easter 🐣 racing for @becsterboo75 and another win 🥇

After a turbulent 36 hours pre race and little sleep, Bec pulls out another cracking race at the local Westonbirt House half marathon. 1:28 and the Easter egg haul for the win. Cracking running as we head deep into marathon training 🥳

🏅💜 We had purple crew on the trails at the w 🏅💜 We had purple crew on the trails at the weekend at two different events:

@zoe_today finished the SDW50. A tough month with a hamstring niggle (from a muddy run), and some decisions about whether to race up to the wire. In the end, Zoe had a cracking day out finishing well under 12 hours, and much faster than either of us anticipated, which shows just how important staying consistent in training is. Those months prior to injury were solid and strong with great consistency in the gym work.

@larnyrunsing ran a 50 mile PB at the SDW50, really strong in training, solid hill and track sessions. Some struggles with the heat, but hugs from fellow purple crew Fiona (crewing at Alfriston) made all the difference.

@bigshanky ran the SDW50 as a warm up race for his upcoming 200 mile ultra. Aim of the game was 100 mile or slower pace. Finish feeling like you could keep running. Again some struggles with the warm weather, but a solid 9.5 hours bagged, and feeling good this week.

Matt ran the Ultra X Surrey 75km. Another strong run, aiming to go under 11 hours, Matt finished in 10.5 hours. Really proud as we’ve had some health issues to battle. Great to see Matt back to full strength and loving his running again 🥳

💥 48 min PB 💥 Huge congrats to @hayleyph94, 💥 48 min PB 💥

Huge congrats to @hayleyph94, coached by @chrismaxwell.endurancesport for her incredible run at the Newport Marathon. Diligent training, fabulous communication and PBs all the way. 3 hours 32 minutes. Brilliant pacing and huge smiles 💜

Onwards to the triathlon season (after a little rest) 🥳

#medalmonday 🏅 Some incredible racing and perf #medalmonday 🏅

Some incredible racing and performances from our purple crew this weekend, and as always supporting each other.

@emma1dinger ran the 80km Moors traverse. After a tough few weeks, and some much needed pep talks, Emma ran herself into 10th overall and 3rd woman. Sadly no trophy 🏆to take home?

Mike ran the Prague half marathon, his spring target race, with a PB the main goal. Cracking running and pacing and a 1 minute PB for 1:23 🥳

@becsterboo75 ran the Southampton half marathon. Last minute decision, some benchmarking before the marathon build (and persuaded by friends!). Brilliant pacing for 2nd woman in 1:28 🥳

@jenny.x.carter ran her goal spring race, the Berlin half marathon. Trip with hubby and some much needed holiday. Jenny ran a great time of 1:26, despite some weaving at the start slowing her down.

@claireybloomers competed in both the Torbay supersprint triathlon and the Big Cheese 15 this weekend! Mixing ultra running in with the triathlon season. Great medal for the Big Cheese 🧀

#medalmonday 🏅 Breezy weekend for racing but s #medalmonday 🏅

Breezy weekend for racing but some great performances from our purple crew 🤩

@becsterboo75 joined us only a month ago but the structure is working wonders. Bec finished 🥈 woman and 🥇 v45 at the Calne Clock Change 10km on Sunday. Rapid time too of 40:25 🤩

@thismumrunsforfun raced in the East Leake Sprint triathlon, another step towards the Europeans and building bike confidence. Tasha finished 3rd AG too 🤩

@claireybloomers did the Battle on the Beach 45km cyclocross. The smile says it all. This girl loves cycling 🤩

Racing is awesome 🤩 But, do we always need to Racing is awesome 🤩

But, do we always need to ‘race’ our races. Many people enter too many races. We all get excited, fomo from friends, club leagues and the sun coming out!

Not every race needs to be a PB hunt, podium or time goal. Racing can be practising kit, fuelling, sports psychology testing, pre race routines, pacing or simply getting back into a racing groove after an injury or illness.

Racing is awesome, but don’t feel the need to chase every race. Pick out certain events for A races, B races, C races and decide (maybe with your coach) what the aims of those races are. Be adaptable for hurdles (they will happen).

For our athletes this weekend, it was all B races.

Well done to @natalie96z and Elspeth at Reading half marathon building to marathons.

@thismumrunsforfun for her solid 10km road race (post injury) and building to European Tri AG.

@isabellafayemcnally pace testing at Fission 20

Jen at the Treehouse 10km club league race, tempo run but finished 🥈 feeling great 🤩

Pacing 🏅 Racing long distance is all about pac Pacing 🏅

Racing long distance is all about pacing and knowing your capabilities before the start of the race. Go out too fast and the last 5-10km (depending on the length of the race) will not be pretty, go out too slow and you’ll be wondering what if on the finish line! Know your pace and how it feels through precise testing sessions in training, so when you’re on the start line there is no doubt.

We had 4 purple crew running the BathHalf on Sunday, 2 were ‘racing’ and 2 were ‘pace testing’ as their A race is very soon.

@laurajanesara raced BathHalf as a build up race to London. Laura is still coming back from the birth of her son so pacing is a bit bumpy but we have time before the marathon. Not a PB but definitely a great time of 1:27 in the bag 🤩

Leah was also racing, using the race as a build up before her triathlon season. Brilliant pacing for a 1:51 which is a 10 minute PB 🥳

@jenny.x.carter and Mike were both using BathHalf (as they had an entry anyway) for pace testing. Tough to control the first half effort but they both managed to run at marathon pace for 7 miles. The racers were then unleashed with controlled pacing the goal. Pacing perfection from both, slight dip for the dreaded mile hill to the finish but average for 6.1 miles was bang on. We know the pace for their A race in 3 weeks time 🤩🤩 Both finished with huge smiles 😄💜

Pacing for the win 💜

Hundred Hills 50km 🏅 We had 3 purple crew runn Hundred Hills 50km 🏅

We had 3 purple crew running the stunning Chiltern trails.

@bimbling_idiot found some speed post Spine, loving the event and the weather. Great to find the running legs again running 5 hours 35 as we build to Lakeland.

@zoe_today managed to get in under 7 hours despite an annoying niggle that surfaced just before. Strong run practising fuelling ready for SDW50. Zoe absolutely loved the event and had the best day out there.

Matt finished in 6 hours 19, loving the weather and event, a stepping stone towards some exciting summer races.

Congratulations to @hayleyph94 for her 4 minutes 50 PB at the Fleet half marathon, running 1:37 🤩

We had 3 purple crew ladies racing at the weekend We had 3 purple crew ladies racing at the weekend 🥳

@claireybloomers ran the Grizzly Cub (9 miles). A favourite over the years for the purple crew. Stunning views, sticky bogs and tough climbs. Claire was several minutes faster than last year, a good performance indicator 🥳

@thismumrunsforfun kicked off her multi sport season with the Eton Dorney Standard Duathlon. 7th female with caution on the runs post injury, a really strong start to the season 🥳

@emma1dinger ran the Morlands Marathon (30 miles). A beautiful route providing everything we needed for her build to the summer Spine. Emma didn’t race this, with the Moors Traverse very soon, it was very much a training run 🥳

We also had Kevin running Lisbon 10km in the sunshine, back running again and enjoying it 🥳
